Man Hospitalised After Alleyway Attack Behind Exton Road
Police have arrested two men following a serious assault that left a 29-year-old man with stab wounds in Chichester.
The incident took place around 1.50pm on Tuesday, 22 July, in an alleyway behind Exton Road, near Kingsham Avenue. Emergency services responded swiftly to reports of an altercation and found the victim with injuries consistent with a stabbing. He was taken to hospital in a serious condition, where he continues to receive treatment.
Following extensive searches and inquiries, Sussex Police arrested two men – aged 28 and 20 – at an address in Brighton on Wednesday, 23 July. Both are from Chichester and were detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They remain in police custody.
Detective Inspector Rebecca Hopkins, who is leading the investigation, said “This has been a fast-moving investigation, and I would like to thank the public for the help they have provided us so far. Two men have been arrested, and they remain in police custody at this time. We are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.”
Officers continue to patrol the Exton Road area to reassure local residents and to support the ongoing investigation.
DI Hopkins added: “We believe that this was an incident between individuals that did not pose a threat to the wider community. We continue to urge witnesses or anyone with information – including CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage – to come forward.”
