The Royal Pavilion in Brighton will be opening its doors to the public free of charge as part of a special open day (Sunday 25 January – Doors open at 10am – last admission 4.30pm), giving residents and visitors the chance to explore one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks without paying an entry fee.
The iconic palace, which sits at the heart of Brighton city centre, is renowned for its distinctive Indo-Saracenic architecture, lavish interiors and links to King George IV. The free entry day is aimed at encouraging more people to discover the historic building and learn about its unique past.
Visitors will be able to walk through the Pavilion’s ornate rooms, including the Music Room and Banqueting Room, and see its extensive collections of art and furnishings. No advance booking is required, although queues are expected throughout the day due to high demand.
Organisers have advised people planning to attend to arrive early and be prepared for waiting times, particularly during peak hours. Entry will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with last entry subject to capacity.
The Royal Pavilion has played many roles during its history, from royal residence to military hospital during the First World War, and remains one of Brighton’s most popular tourist attractions.
The free entry day forms part of ongoing efforts to make the city’s cultural and historic sites more accessible to the public.
