A drug dealer described by police as a “prolific offender” has been jailed for more than five years after supplying heroin and crack cocaine in Hastings.
Kelvin Bright, 32, of Grove Road, was sentenced to five years and seven months in prison at Lewes Crown Court after pleading guilty to supplying Class A drugs. Sussex Police said Bright had been actively involved in dealing and had even intimidated others into supplying drugs on his behalf.
During the investigation, officers also arrested Terry Arnold, 67, of Lydd Road in Camber, who was involved in the supply operation. Arnold admitted his role and received a two-year prison sentence suspended for two years.
Police said the case highlighted the wider dangers linked to drug supply, including the exploitation of vulnerable people and the use of their homes for dealing — a tactic known as “cuckooing”. Officers stressed that removing Bright from the streets was an important step in protecting the local community.
Detective Constable Nick Arthur said the sentencing sends a strong message that drug dealing and exploitation will not be tolerated in Hastings or across Sussex.
Sussex Police continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activity linked to drug networks or vulnerable individuals who may be at risk.
