The Angie Brown Show
Throughout Angie’s decades as a successful singer as a professional working musician, Angie Brown’s powerful, vivacious voice has defined, some of the biggest tracks in the house genre and beyond. Following the global success of Bizarre Inc’s 1992 hit ‘I'm Gonna Get You’, which featured vocals from Angie, she became one of the most sought-after singers, in the UK which solidified her position, as a bone fide, respected member of the music business.
Hailing from Brixton, South London, Angie's musical journey began in the diverse soundscape of the city - where she sang in school productions, and choirs throughout her childhood. Influenced by Soul, Funk, and Disco, Angie laid solid foundations, for her career, through intensive vocal training and performing at various venues, and charity/community-led gigs.
Angie, is now embarking on a new era of her career - one that is reflective, of the expansive career, she has had so far. Her vocals on ‘I'm Gonna Get You’, were nothing short of iconic, blending seamlessly, with uplifting Gospel vocals, mixed with energetic, four-to-the-floor beats, in true House music genre- and Angie's collaboration with Bizarre Inc, opened the doors to numerous optimistic opportunities.
In 1987, Angie joined ‘The Dirty Strangers’, - West London, post Punk rock band, who shared a lot of promise, at that time, to be the new ‘Rolling Stones’, (together with Ronnie Wood & Keith Richards, often appearing live, and on recordings, with ‘The Dirty Strangers’) Angie’s vocals may be heard on the album, ‘Diamonds’. In 1994, Angie collaborated with ‘MOTIV-8’, on their House classic ‘Rockin’ For Myself’, which peaked at number 18 in the UK National chart, and number one in the UK Singles Dance chart, (1994)
Angie knows, that a good vocal can make, or break a hit record, so her voice extends beyond the House praxis; as she’s provided vocals for the likes of Pop and Rock icons, Happy Mondays, (live tours), Fat Boy Slim (‘Drive Thru Booty’), Mark Morrison (‘Return Of The Mack’), Kate Bush (‘Eat The Music’), Culture Club (‘Don’t Mind If I Do’), Heaven 17 (‘Bigger Than America’), and The Stereophonics (‘You Gotta Go There To Come Back’).
Beyond the confines of the studio, as Dance music, started soaring in popularity throughout clubland, during the early 90s, Angie swiftly gained popularity, as a very entertaining and inventive ‘live’ performer, ranging from the super clubs in Ibiza, Majorca, Four Seasons, Penthouse Nightclub Hong Kong, and various other nightclubs, in North America, and mainland European locations. Angie also takes centre stage at popular, International House and Rave events, the likes of Euphoria, Fantazia, Love Parade, Cool Britannia, Cream, Glastonbury, Reminisce, to name a few, and she also headlines at Butlins, numerous Pride festivals, across UK and Europe, and she also performs at many prestigious, private events. As well as singing as a solo act, where she mostly her own hits and commercial songs, which always leaves her audiences, delighted. Angie has also provided live, and backing vocals for legends, including Grace Jones, Desmond Dekker, Chaka Khan, Lisa Stansfield, Massive Attack, at venues in London, Paris, Berlin, New York, Rome, Hong Kong, Dubai, Spain, Holland, and the Maldives.
Having released her brand new take on, ‘I’m Gonna Get You’, (November 2023). Angie is now songwriting her own destiny, within the unstoppable dance industry, that she helped to create, a movement she loves being associated with. In doing so, keeping her love, for Dance music close to her heart, as Angie is now a DJ! She learnt her brand new skill, (which has proved useful, to her forthcoming releases, and her studio and productive input). A few months before the lockdowns began, Angie regularly went ‘live’ DJ-ing, and playing to weekly audiences, between 3000-5000 people. So once the lockdowns were finally over, Angie decided it was time for some brand-new and exciting tracks. So she spent a lot of time in the studio, cherry picking, her favorite top-tier, House Music producers - including Chicago's renowned artist and producer, Joe Smooth (of ‘Promised Land’). She’s also working on collaborations with Eddie “Wideboy” Craig, WH0, Many Few, Marvel Riot, and The Covenants. Each of those acts, have tracks that are due to be released, with Angie on the the lead vocals, this year.
Lastly, but definitely not least, the most amazing, wonderful news yet! It has been recently discovered, that unbeknownst to Angie, her awesome vocals, and her songwriting, has been cleverly used in a song, which has had outstanding, global success. Two ultra talented, Brazilian DJ producers, called ‘OwnBoss’ and ‘Sevck’, used Angie‘s dynamic and powerful, chorus, along with her vocals, on their international hit, called ‘Move Your Body’. Unbelievably, ‘Move Your Body’, was released in 2021, and was an instant groundbreaking success. Especially with EDM and Trance Music audiences… and the song
has already notched up 3 billion streams, across all platforms. Plus
‘OwnBoss’ and ‘Sevck’, received an award, for Best EDM Baseline track, and ‘Move Your Body’, was one of the top five MOST played songs, in the world, in 2023. This step marks a significant, breathtaking milestone in Angie’s career, a real game-changer for her, as she excitedly anticipates her forthcoming House royalty collaborations, and lovingly embraces, what she has to share, with her cherished, and ever-growing audiences. Angie is overjoyed, that she can now, finally and freely express herself, as a(sing-your-soul) creative artist and songwriter, who once, and for all, independently learned to stand up for herself, within the boundaries of a male dominated industry. Angie has relentlessly, and wholeheartedly under her own steam, put her heart and soul into every track. So it’s definitely her time to shine, and on her terms!
