Emergency services responded to a serious incident in Eastbourne town centre after reports of a knife attack on Terminus Road at around 7.30am on Saturday, May 3.
A 30-year-old man was found with serious but not life-threatening injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital for further care.
Sussex Police confirmed that a 20-year-old man and a 27-year-old man were initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH). However, following further investigation, both have been released with no further action and are now being treated as witnesses.
A police spokesperson said:
“There will be increased patrols in the area while police continue their enquiries and to provide reassurance to the public.
Further CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances, and anyone with information is asked to contact police.”
Police are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
