A pedestrian has been left in a life-threatening condition following a serious collision in Peacehaven, Sussex Police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the A259 South Coast Road, near the junction with Keymer Avenue, just before 5pm on Thursday, 22 January, after reports that a man had been struck by a vehicle.
The pedestrian, a 67-year-old local man, was reportedly crossing the road when he was hit by a black Citroën C-Crosser travelling eastbound. He suffered significant injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
The A259 was closed for a period while police and ambulance crews dealt with the incident and carried out initial investigations at the scene.
Officers are now conducting further enquiries, including reviewing any available CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage, and are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has information that could assist the investigation.
