    A man has died, another remains missing, and a third has been hospitalised following a serious boat collision near Tipner on Thursday evening (14 August).

    Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and coastguard crews from Portsmouth and Hill Head, were called to the scene shortly before 8pm after reports that a rigid-hulled inflatable boat had been involved in a severe crash.

    A man in his 60s from Emsworth was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed his family has been informed and will receive specialist support.

    A man in his 50s from West Sussex was taken to hospital with injuries but has since been discharged.

    Search efforts are continuing for a man in his 60s from Havant who remains unaccounted for.

    A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said:

    “We are liaising with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) during the early stages of an investigation to establish what has happened.”

    The incident prompted a large-scale emergency response, with coastguard rescue teams deployed from Portsmouth at 8.25pm and Hill Head at 8.36pm. A helicopter was also seen operating near Queen Alexandra Hospital during the evening.

    The MAIB has been approached for further information.
