A man has been charged following a string of burglaries in the Hollingdean and Hollingbury areas of Brighton earlier this month.

Oliver Pierce, 33, of Brentwood Road, Brighton, is accused of breaking into two homes and attempting to burgle a third on July 14. All three incidents occurred on Hollingbury Rise, a residential street in north Brighton.

The Brighton and Hove Burglary Team launched an investigation after reports of break-ins in the area. Officers allege that Pierce was involved in all three incidents on the same night, raising concerns among residents about a spike in local crime.

Just three days later, on July 17, police arrested Pierce in Brentwood Road, where he was reportedly found in possession of cannabis and ketamine, both classified as controlled substances under UK law.

Following his arrest, Pierce was charged with two counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, and two counts of possession of Class B drugs. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on August 15.

Police are now appealing to residents who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Hollingdean area between July 1 and 17. Investigators are particularly interested in reports of stolen items or attempts to enter properties.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting crime reference 47250137797.
