A 28-year-old man, Jamie Gabriel of Norwood, South London, has been sentenced to five years and seven months in prison following his arrest during a vehicle stop in Crawley.

Gabriel was under surveillance by plain-clothes officers, who observed him approaching known drug users and handing over small packages. When they stopped the vehicle he was travelling in, the officers found cannabis inside the car and cocaine on his person.

He pleaded guilty to the following offences at Lewes Crown Court on 12 November:

    • Possession of a Class B drug (cannabis)
    • Possession of Class A drugs (crack cocaine and heroin) with intent to supply
    • Being concerned in the supply of those Class A drugs

During sentencing, officers highlighted evidence from Gabriel’s phone that linked him to a wider network supplying drugs in Crawley.

Detective Inspector Oli Robinson commented: “Officers have been working hard to disrupt the supply of drugs which cause significant harm in our communities … We are pleased that an offender selling a significant quantity of drugs has been taken off our streets … The sentence reflects his third conviction for drug supply matters.”
