A man has been charged with multiple driving offences after police stopped a motorbike allegedly being ridden dangerously through Brighton city centre.
The incident happened at around 2pm on Monday, 14 July, when officers on patrol spotted the vehicle on Queens Road.
The rider was stopped in North Gardens, where he was arrested on suspicion of several offences.
Kane Smythe, 32, of Hillborough Crescent, Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, was arrested and later charged with:
- Driving whilst disqualified
- Driving without insurance
- Failing to stop at a red light at a pelican crossing
- Failing to stop a vehicle when required by a police constable
- Obstructing or resisting a constable in the execution of their duty
He was released on bail and is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 14 August.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said:
“Officers on routine patrol spotted a motorbike being ridden in a dangerous manner in Queens Road, Brighton, at around 2pm on Monday 14 July.
The vehicle was stopped in North Gardens and a man was arrested on suspicion of multiple driving offences, including driving while disqualified and without insurance, failing to stop at a red light, failing to stop for police, and obstructing an officer.
He has since been charged and released on bail, and is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 14 August.”
