Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a white transit van on Balcombe Road near Horley.

Emergency services were called shortly before 7.45pm on Wednesday, 9 July, to the scene of the crash between Fernhill Road and the M23 underpass. Both vehicles had been travelling northbound when the collision occurred.

Tragically, the motorcyclist – a 45-year-old man from Cobham – was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.

The driver of the white transit van, a 26-year-old man from Crawley, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:

“We are appealing for witnesses, dashcam footage, and anyone with CCTV footage that would have captured the vehicles driving just before or at the time of the collision. Your information could be vital to our investigation.”
