Brighton’s Easter weekend saw a striking and heartwarming display of community spirit as the city’s iconic Mods from the South Coast MOD group joined forces with the Black Widows biker group to deliver hundreds of Easter eggs to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital. The event, known as the Easter Egg Run, brought smiles to young patients, their families, and NHS staff alike.
Starting from the historic Volks Tavern, around 50 Mods on classic scooters rode in formation alongside Black Widows motorcyclists, carrying more than 200 chocolate Easter eggs. Together, they made their way through the streets of Brighton in a colourful and lively convoy that turned heads and lifted spirits.

In a rare show of unity, the once-feared rivalry between Mods and Rockers was set aside for the day, replaced by camaraderie and a shared sense of purpose. The sound of Lambrettas, Vespas, and Harley-Davidsons echoed down Madeira Drive as both groups worked hand in hand to bring a little Easter magic to children who couldn’t be at home for the holiday.
At the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, the arrival of the riders brought a welcome distraction from daily routines. Staff and families gathered to greet the bikers, accepting the eggs with gratitude and appreciation. The children were especially delighted by the colourful spectacle and friendly energy of the visitors.

After the successful delivery, the group returned to Volks Tavern, where they reflected on the day’s impact and began discussing plans for future charitable events. The success of the Easter Egg Run demonstrated the strength of community in Brighton and proved that when it comes to bringing joy, even the most unlikely partnerships can create something truly special.
With the Easter Egg Run now becoming a firm fixture in the city’s calendar, both the South Coast MOD group and Black Widows showed that style and heart go hand in hand—and that Brighton’s streets are at their best when filled with generosity, unity, and the unmistakable sound of two wheels.
