Police were called to reports that a man in his 40s had been seriously injured following a brief encounter with two people in the park at around 2.45 am. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged and continues his recovery at home.

Detective Sergeant Harry Mansbridge said officers are progressing a series of enquiries, including collecting CCTV footage that could be vital to the investigation, and thanked members of the public who have already provided information.

Sussex Police continue to urge anyone with relevant information, CCTV or mobile footage from the area at the time of the incident to come forward. Anyone who believes they may be able to assist is asked to report details online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Evesham.
