Police have arrested two men following a violent incident in Brighton in which two women were injured by a glass bottle.
At around 6pm on Saturday, July 26, officers were called to Grand Parade after reports of a disturbance near the junction of Kingswood Street. It was alleged that two men had been fighting when one of them threw a glass bottle.
Tragically, the bottle struck a 29-year-old woman on the head, while glass shards from the impact caused serious injuries to a second woman, aged 41, who was also sitting nearby.
A swift search of the area led to the arrest of a 57-year-old man from Brighton on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and theft. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
Then, on Wednesday morning (July 30), officers located a man who had climbed onto a building in Blaker Street. He was arrested in connection with the assault on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. The 43-year-old man has also been bailed.
Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
