A man has died after being pulled from the sea off Eastbourne seafront on Monday morning, January 19. Emergency services were called to the scene near The Wish Tower following a welfare concern.
Emergency Services’ Swift Response
Sussex Police confirmed that a multi-agency operation was launched at approximately 8 a.m. A spokesperson for the South East Coast Ambulance Service reported that ambulance crews, including critical care paramedics, attended alongside the coastguard and RNLI.
Man Pronounced Deceased at Scene
The body of a man, believed to be in his 60s, was recovered from the water. Despite the best efforts of all emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have confirmed that his next of kin have been informed.
No Suspicious Circumstances
In an official statement, a Sussex Police spokesperson said: “There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.” The investigation will now be handled by the coroner’s office to establish the formal cause of death.
