Police have arrested a man following a tactical pursuit of a stolen Asda van in East Sussex this morning (30 January).
Officers were called to Sovereign Harbour Retail Park in Pevensey Bay Road, Eastbourne at around 6.20am after reports that an Asda van had been stolen. The vehicle was pursued by police and safely stopped in The Fairway, Newhaven.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of:
- Theft of a vehicle
- Dangerous driving
- Failing to stop
- Driving or being in charge of a vehicle with a concentration of a controlled drug above the legal limit
- Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Officers are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident. We would encourage anyone who witnessed what happened or who has relevant CCTV or mobile footage to report it to us online or by calling 101, quoting serial 136 of 30/01.”
