A Sussex Police officer charged with dangerous driving following a collision in Brighton has been released with no further criminal action to be taken.
PC James Kirk, 27, was accused of dangerous driving after a collision involving a marked police vehicle and a light goods vehicle (LGV) while responding to an emergency call.

The incident occurred on 4 September last year when the officer’s vehicle went through a red traffic light before colliding with the LGV in Brighton.
Following a review, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided to withdraw the charge, stating that a criminal prosecution was not in the public interest.
Despite the decision, the matter has not been fully closed. Sussex Police confirmed the case remains with the force’s Professional Standards Department, which will now consider whether misconduct proceedings are appropriate.
