Fire crews were called to tackle a house fire in St Leonards on Tuesday evening.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were sent to Springfield Road, St Leonards-on-Sea at 7.51pm on 11 March following reports of a fire at a residential property.
Six fire appliances initially attended the incident along with an aerial ladder platform and an incident command unit. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet and one main jet to tackle the blaze.
The property, which has three floors, had been evacuated before crews arrived at the scene.
Police were also requested to attend and a road closure was put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident. Nearby residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution.
An update from the fire service at 9.40pm confirmed the incident had been scaled back to two appliances.
Crews located the fire in the first-floor lounge of the property and firefighting operations were continuing. All occupants were accounted for.
Residents have been asked to continue avoiding the area while firefighters remain at the scene.
