On the evening of Monday 27 October 2025, just prior to 11 p.m., officers attended a report of robbery and assault outside the cash-point located on St James’s Street, Brighton.
A man was using the ATM outside the local Co-op supermarket when a woman approached him, asked for money, then allegedly assaulted him and made off with his bank card.
The suspect is described as a Black woman, around 25 years of age, wearing a long white jacket or cardigan over a light-coloured top, and carrying a handbag.
Detectives from Sussex Police are actively reviewing CCTV footage from the area and pursuing witness enquiries. They are asking anyone who was in or around St James’s Street at the time—particularly around the cash-point—to come forward.
