I visited Popeye’s in Brighton expecting the usual hot, crispy fried chicken, but unfortunately, this experience was a mixed bag. Let’s start with the positives: the staff had the orders ready almost instantly, and the tills were smooth and efficient, with receipts printed quickly. The restaurant itself was “cleanish”—not spotless, but not dirty either—so it’s acceptable if you’re not too picky.

However, the negatives were hard to ignore. The food arrived cold. The chicken, which should have been crispy and steaming, was lukewarm and soggy in parts. It’s clear the speed of service was prioritized over actual food quality.

On top of that, the staff seemed disengaged, almost as if they didn’t want to be there. They were polite enough, but there was a lack of energy or friendliness beyond the basics, which can make the whole experience feel impersonal.

If you’re looking for quick service and don’t mind cold food, Popeye’s Brighton will deliver. But if your goal is a hot, satisfying, indulgent meal that Popeye’s promises, you might want to think twice. The seasoning and flavors typical of Popeye’s were still there, so it’s not terrible—but the cold temperature and disengaged staff make it hard to enjoy.
