I recently visited Grand Central Brighton and it continues to stand out as one of the city’s most versatile and lively venues.
The drinks menu is extensive, with a particularly strong beer selection that caters to both mainstream and craft preferences. There’s a good balance between dependable favourites and more interesting options, making it easy to find something that suits your taste. Beyond beer, the wine list, spirits range and cocktail offering mean it works just as well for a relaxed afternoon drink as it does for a full evening out.
The food menu is equally comprehensive. From classic pub dishes to more substantial plates, there’s plenty of choice whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or settling in for a proper meal. Portions are generous, presentation is solid, and the pricing feels fair for such a central Brighton location.

One of the standout features is the outdoor roof terrace. It’s a real asset, especially in warmer weather, providing a more relaxed space away from the main bar area. It gives the venue a different feel and adds to its overall appeal.
Upstairs, the Nightingale Rooms offer a distinctive and characterful space that’s ideal for private events and themed nights. It adds depth to the venue — you can enjoy a casual drink downstairs or head upstairs for something a bit more lively and focused.

They also show all major live sports, which makes it a strong choice on match days and for big televised events. It’s worth noting that on home match days the venue closes to the general public and operates as Brighton ticket holders only, pre kickoff, so plan ahead if you’re visiting during a fixture.
Service throughout my visit was excellent — friendly, attentive and efficient, even when busy. The venue was clean and well maintained, with tables cleared promptly and communal areas kept tidy. Given its location right by the station, it’s definitely one to visit if you’re early for your train and want somewhere reliable with plenty of choice.
