A 34-year-old man with no fixed address, Daniel Rogers, has been jailed after stealing more than £2,900 worth of goods from supermarkets and retailers across West Sussex.
Over a three-month period from July to October this year, Rogers conducted a shoplifting spree, during which CCTV footage showed him acting like a legitimate shopper while hiding items in duffel bags and carrier bags. He took goods including 24 bottles of champagne, six speakers, three jackets and a variety of alcohol.
Rogers was arrested on 21 October and charged the same day with 13 counts of theft from a shop. He appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court the next day, pleaded guilty on all counts and was remanded in custody. He has now been sentenced to six weeks in jail.
