A man with a long history of shoplifting has been banned from entering Co‑op stores across Sussex following a court conviction.
Arron Jones, 32, from Crawley, admitted to 15 theft-related offences at Crawley Magistrates’ Court earlier this month. The offences took place in several locations across West Sussex over a period of several months.
Items taken included alcohol, meat, butter, and football cards, affecting multiple retailers.
The court issued a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), preventing Jones from entering any Co‑op store in Sussex. The order also restricts him from entering stores with an accomplice and requires him to leave immediately if asked by staff or security. Police are authorized to take action if the order is breached.
In addition to the ban, Jones must pay compensation to the affected businesses and participate in rehabilitative programs, including drug treatment and community activities.
Sussex Police highlighted that shoplifting has a serious impact on both local businesses and the community and encouraged the public and retailers to report any suspicious activity.
