Detectives investigating the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Hastings have released a CCTV image of a man they want to identify as part of their enquiries.
The incident occurred around 1.30am on Sunday, 11 May, in an alleyway in Hastings town centre. The suspect is not believed to be known to the victim.
Police describe the man as:
- Aged in his late 20s to early 30s
- 5’10” to 5’11” tall
- Of athletic build
- With a full, neat, pointy beard
Detective Inspector Carol Shoesmith said:
“We have been carrying out detailed enquiries into this incident and specialist officers have been supporting the victim.
We’ve now obtained further details and are releasing CCTV of a man we would like to speak to.
While we believe this was an isolated incident, we know it will cause concern in the community. We have increased patrols in the area to offer visibility and reassurance.”
Police are urging anyone who recognises the man or who has any information—no matter how minor—to come forward.
