Police investigating a rape in Worthing town centre have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to as a crucial witness.
The incident occurred in an alleyway behind the Guildbourne Shopping Centre car park and Chatsworth Road at around 3am on Friday, 25 October.
A 45-year-old woman is being supported by specially trained officers as enquiries continue.
A 42-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of rape and has been bailed pending further investigation.
Detectives are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward — particularly a man who may have vital information that could assist their enquiries.
He is described as having short brown or dark hair, and was wearing a light blue puffer jacket, light-coloured jeans, a white T-shirt or polo neck shirt with a necklace, and white trainers.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said officers are continuing to pursue several lines of enquiry and are urging the public to help identify this potential witness.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Morley.
