Police are appealing for information and CCTV footage following a reported burglary at a property in Auckland Drive, Brighton.
The burglary is believed to have taken place between around midnight and 3am on 20 January, during which multiple items were stolen, including electronic devices and two purses.
Just after 3am on the same day, one of the victim’s bank cards was used at a convenience store in Dyke Road, Brighton. Enquiries into the suspicious transaction led officers to arrest 53-year-old Edward Denny on Monday 26 January.
Denny appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court the following day, where he was charged with fraud by false representation, handling stolen goods and theft from a shop. He has since pleaded guilty to the offences and has been remanded in custody ahead of his sentencing, which is scheduled for 17 March.
Police say enquiries are ongoing to establish further details surrounding the burglary itself, and officers are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the Auckland Drive area during the early hours of 20 January, or do you have doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage from nearby streets that has not yet been shared with police?
Anyone with information is asked to contact police online or call 101, quoting reference 134 of 20/01.
