    Sussex Police are appealing for information after almost £2,500 was spent on stolen bank cards following a purse theft in Brighton.

    The incident happened on 15 February 2026 at around 1:30pm, when a woman reported her purse was stolen from her shopping bag as she exited Waitrose on Western Road. Officers believe the theft was carried out using a distraction tactic.

    The stolen purse contained money and bank cards. One of the cards was subsequently used in attempts to complete high-value transactions.

    Police have released images of three men they would like to speak with as part of their ongoing investigation.

    Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the theft or has any information about the men to come forward. Reports can be made online or by calling 101, quoting reference 557 of 15/02/2026.
