This incident is part of the latest court convictions following Sussex Police’s Christmas drink and drug‑driving crackdown, which ran from 1 December to 1 January. During the operation, 279 arrests were made, with 47 people already convicted. Here are the most recent individuals to lose their driving privileges:
- Gary Cooper, 32, removals operative from Chichester — failed to provide a breath or blood sample; suspended prison sentence of four weeks, eight‑month driving ban, victim surcharge applied.
- Robert Delacourt, 81, retired from Newhaven — over the legal limit; 16‑month driving disqualification, fines and costs imposed.
- Gideon Mungai, 24, care assistant from Lancing — in charge of a vehicle while over the limit; 28‑day driving ban and fines.
- Mubashar Khan, 38, care assistant from Eastbourne — exceeded limit; 20‑month driving ban and financial penalties.
- Christopher Taylor, 27, unemployed from Carmarthenshire — over the limit and uninsured; 12‑month driving ban and fines.
- Karen Pfeffer, 44, factory worker from Worthing — exceeded limit; 16‑month driving ban, fines, and compensation ordered.
