Emergency services sprang into action this morning after a man became stranded on a rooftop in central Brighton.
At 10:07am, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a person requiring assistance at height on Blaker Street, a residential road close to the heart of the city. Crews from Preston Circus fire station were dispatched, including a fire engine and a specialist aerial ladder platform.
Firefighters swiftly secured the scene and used the aerial equipment to reach the man, who appeared to be stuck on the upper part of a property. The rescue was carried out calmly and efficiently, with the individual safely brought down without injury.
Sussex Police also attended the scene to assist during the operation. Despite the dramatic setting, no one was reported hurt.
The incident was resolved by 10:58am, less than an hour after the first call was made.
The circumstances of how or why the man ended up on the roof have not been disclosed, but the fire service confirmed that no further action was needed once the person was brought to safety.
Residents in the area watched the incident unfold, with several praising the quick work of the emergency responders.
Blaker Street has since returned to normal.
