Emergency services were called to the beach near Eversfield Place in St Leonards on Friday morning (January 30) after a member of the public discovered a man’s body at around 7.30am, Sussex Police have confirmed.
The deceased has been identified as a 48-year-old local man. Officers are currently contacting his next of kin.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “The death is unexplained but not believed to be suspicious. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting serial 179 of 30/1.”
Police and other emergency services, iattended the scene to assess the situation. The area was secured while officers carried out their initial inquiries.
