A tragic accident on the A27 westbound near Falmer claimed the life of a man in the early hours of Wednesday, 28 January 2026. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 2:00 am following reports of a single-vehicle collision.
The adult male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Sussex Police have confirmed that the victim’s family has been informed, and officers have offered their condolences.
In addition to the fatality, a 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. No arrests have been made, and investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing.
The A27 westbound has been closed for several hours while emergency teams worked to secure the scene. The closure affected traffic between the Kingston Roundabout and the Carden Avenue junction, causing delays for motorists travelling through the area.
