A man has been charged in connection with two reported break-ins in Eastbourne, including one involving a sexual offence.
Police were called to an address in Royal Parade, Eastbourne, at around 10.40am on Friday, 4 July, following concerns about an intruder inside the property. The victim, a young woman, is receiving ongoing support from specially trained officers.
Officers arrested a 31-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of burglary and trespass with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence.
The incident was later linked to a second burglary reported the same morning in Desmond Road, also in Eastbourne.
Sussex Police have now confirmed that Mohammad Raza, 31, of no fixed address, has been charged with burglary, sexual assault, and trespass with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence.
Raza was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 July to answer the charges.
Detective Sergeant Jamie Ashford said:
“This was an unusual report and is part of a complex investigation. We took these reports extremely seriously, with officers responding rapidly and ensuring a suspect was swiftly arrested.”
Anyone with further information related to either incident is asked to contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting reference 474 of 04/07.
