A man has been charged following an incident in Hove in which a vehicle was stolen from an elderly woman.
Police were called to Blatchington Road at around 5.30pm on 12 January after reports that an 82-year-old woman had been assaulted and her car taken.
Officers attended the scene and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment. She has since been discharged and is continuing her recovery at home.
The stolen vehicle was later identified on 15 January travelling along the A27. Police attempted to stop the car, but it was involved in a minor collision before coming to a halt in Lancing. The driver was arrested at the scene.
Billy Eyre, 33, of George V Avenue, Worthing, appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court later that day.
He has been charged with the following offences:
- Robbery
- Two counts of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
- Two counts of driving without insurance
- Possession of a Class B drug
Eyre was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 12 February.
Sussex Police continue to encourage anyone who witnesses crime or has concerns in their area to report it.
