Sussex Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for help following a reported sexual assault in Nymans Woods, Handcross, on Thursday, 3 July. The incident occurred at approximately 7.45 am when a woman in her 20s was allegedly touched by a man and then followed into Handcross village.
Officers responded swiftly and a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault. He has since been released on bail, subject to strict conditions, while inquiries continue.
To safeguard the victim and support her through this process, the force has put protective measures in place.
Detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident—or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in or around Nymans Woods that morning—to come forward. Witnesses are asked to get in touch with Sussex Police via the online reporting form or by calling 101, quoting reference 250 of 03/07.
