Residents in Hastings and St Leonards may be experiencing low water pressure or a temporary loss of water supply this Christmas Day, Southern Water has confirmed.
The disruption is due to critically low levels at Fairlight Reservoir, which has now reached its final reserves. Earlier today, a short power outage at Brede Water Supply Works further affected the remaining water levels.
Southern Water says its supply works are now fully operational. To restore service, the company is using tankers to inject water back into the reservoir and exploring additional methods to increase levels as quickly as possible.
To support customers while the issue is resolved, a bottled water station has been opened at Pelham Place Car Park, Carlisle Parade, Hastings, TN34 3AD, which will remain open until 10pm today.
Southern Water apologised for the disruption, particularly on Christmas Day, and expects the supply loss to last only a few hours. A further update will be provided before 8pm.
Residents are advised to check Southern Water’s website or social media channels for the latest information.
