Four people have been arrested in Sussex as part of a counter-terrorism investigation into suspected extreme right-wing activity.
Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE), supported by Sussex Police, carried out the planned, intelligence-led operation on December 4 in Eastbourne and Brighton. Specialist firearms officers were involved in the arrests.
Those detained include a 27-year-old woman from Hailsham and three men aged 33, 36 and 41 from Eastbourne. All four were arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and remain in police custody for questioning.
Police are continuing to search a number of residential properties linked to the investigation.
Assistant Chief Constable Steve Rayland said the operation was not in response to any immediate threat but was part of ongoing work to keep communities safe. He added that residents may notice a temporary increase in police activity while enquiries continue.
Members of the public with any concerns or information are encouraged to contact police.
