Emergency services were called to a significant fire at a leisure centre on Kingsway in Hove on Friday morning.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews were dispatched at 10.54am following reports of a blaze within the building. Firefighters used six breathing apparatus and two main jets to tackle the fire, which was located in the basement area.
By 11.50am, a total of seven fire engines were at the scene, with the building fully evacuated and all الأشخاص safely accounted for. Sussex Police and ambulance crews also attended the incident.
Shortly after, at 12.02pm, the response was escalated to 10 fire engines, including additional support from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
Fire crews have since confirmed the blaze has been extinguished, with teams remaining on site to ventilate the building and make the area safe. Thankfully, there have been no reports of any injuries.
Road closures remain in place around Kingsway, with motorists and the public advised to avoid the area due to ongoing disruption and significant traffic congestion.
