A fire at The Hare & Hounds pub in Framfield prompted an early-morning emergency response on Tuesday, 28 January, with firefighters confirming there were no injuries.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) said crews were called to The Street, Framfield, at 6.59am following reports of a building fire. At the height of the incident, four fire engines were in attendance.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, a covering jet, and thermal imaging cameras to tackle the fire and check for hidden hotspots within the building. Traffic was managed in the area, and local residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.
By 9.48am, the incident was scaled down to one fire engine, and all firefighting operations were completed by 10.17am. ESFRS confirmed the fire is believed to be accidental.
The pub later confirmed the incident in a statement on social media. The Hare & Hounds Framfield said everyone was safe and that nobody was hurt, but added the venue will be closed until further notice.
The pub thanked customers and local residents for their support and said it would provide further updates when available.
