Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the B2204 at Catsfield, East Sussex, late on Friday night (February 20).
Emergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway at around 11pm after a grey Seat Leon left the road.
The driver of the Seat Leon was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
A second vehicle, a Skoda Fabia, was also at the scene. The driver of the Skoda was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken into custody. He was later further arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The occupants of the Skoda were uninjured.
The B2204 was closed overnight while specialist officers carried out a forensic investigation. The road has since reopened.
Detective Sergeant Suzy Marten said: “We are investigating the circumstances of the collision which happened eastbound and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage of the incident to come forward.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw the vehicles being driven eastbound just prior to the collision.”
