A motorist has been stopped outside Uckfield Police Station after loudly accelerating past the building in full view of three officers — before failing a breath test and having the car seized.
Sussex Police said the driver was pulled over moments after the incident and asked to take a roadside breath test, which gave a reading of 74 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.
A further evidential test in custody recorded 67 micrograms.
Officers also established the vehicle was uninsured and not owned by the driver. It has since been seized.
Police highlighted the episode as a reminder that drink-driving and driving without insurance carry serious consequences — and that drawing attention to yourself outside a police station is unlikely to end well.
