Homes in Hastings now have water after fears they could be left without supply over Christmas when a burst water main hit Hastings town.
Southern Water confirmed the Beauport Water Supply Works was successfully restarted on Monday evening, restoring clean, safe drinking water to customers after emergency repairs.
The burst pipe in Hastings town sparked concerns that households north of the town could lose water during the Christmas period, with demand high and repairs ongoing.
In an update, Southern Water said the site is now producing clean, safe drinking water and pumping it back into the network.
While the company said brief interruptions cannot be completely ruled out, it confirmed a full loss of supply is now far less likely, with engineers monitoring the system overnight.
The fix will come as a major relief to families who feared they could be without water over Christmas.
