A major road leading to Gatwick Airport was shut in the early hours of Sunday morning after a double decker bus collided with a parked police car.
Emergency services were called to the A23 London Road, on the approach to the airport’s South Terminal, at around 4.50am on February 22.
According to Sussex Police, the bus struck a police vehicle that had been parked on the approach road.
The bus driver suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital for treatment. There were no passengers on board at the time of the collision, and no officers were inside the parked police vehicle.
The northbound carriageway of the A23 was closed between the Gatwick Road roundabout and the Longbridge roundabout while recovery work and investigations were carried out at the scene.
The road has since fully reopened.
Police enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing.
