A swift police response in snowy conditions led to the arrest of a burglary suspect in Hurstpierpoint in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were called at around 2.15am after a quad bike was reported stolen from an outbuilding in the village.
Following a search of the area, police located the vehicle abandoned in Malthouse Lane. A short time later, officers detained a suspect who emerged from nearby bushes appearing out of breath.
A 19-year-old man from Burgess Hill was arrested on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal, theft of a vehicle, driving while disqualified, and possession of cannabis.
He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Police confirmed the victim has been updated and passed on their thanks to officers for their prompt and positive action.
