Individuals and experiences connected to Brighton Fringe have been named among the winners of Airbnb’s “Best of British” initiative, a nationwide programme celebrating unique cultural experiences across the UK.
Launched by Airbnb in partnership with VisitBritain, the initiative forms part of a £1 million fund designed to support standout tourism experiences that reflect Britain’s heritage, creativity and community spirit.
The winning entries span a range of categories including culture and heritage, food and dining, music and arts, and nature and outdoors. Among them are projects and creatives linked to Brighton Fringe, reinforcing the festival’s reputation as a major platform for independent arts and performance.
Brighton Fringe, one of the largest open-access arts festivals in England, is known for its diverse programme of theatre, comedy, music and experimental performance. Its inclusion within the Best of British winners highlights the growing recognition of grassroots cultural events as key drivers of tourism and local economies.
Successful winners of the initiative are eligible for grants of up to £100,000, aimed at helping them expand their offerings, reach wider audiences and further develop their experiences. Airbnb says the fund is intended to encourage travellers to explore beyond traditional tourist hotspots and engage more deeply with local culture.
The recognition of Brighton Fringe-linked talent within the programme underlines the city’s status as a leading cultural destination, particularly during the festival period, when it attracts thousands of visitors and performers from across the UK and beyond.
