Brighton & Hove Albion supporters have reacted with disappointment after the club confirmed plans to remove a long-standing commemorative feature at the Amex Stadium.

The club is set to replace its existing fan tile wall, which features more than 2,500 personalised tiles purchased by supporters. The wall, which has been in place for years, will be replaced with a new “Heritage Wall”.

Brighton officials say the change is necessary due to weather-related damage to the current structure. However, fans have been told the original tiles will not be returned, as removing them individually could cause further damage.

The decision has sparked criticism from supporters who say the wall holds personal and emotional significance. Many had paid for tiles to mark milestones, tributes and memories connected to the club.

Earlier plans to replace the wall with a digital display were abandoned following backlash and a petition signed by thousands of fans.

Deputy chairman Paul Barber has since apologised for the distress caused and confirmed supporters will be given the opportunity to vote on the design of the replacement Heritage Wall.

The controversy highlights the tension between stadium development and the preservation of club heritage, with fans urging the club to respect traditions that form part of Brighton’s identity.
