Police are currently dealing with a suspicious item following a call to an address in Lancing this afternoon.
Sussex Police said officers were called to a property in Tower Road at around 2.30pm.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
As a precaution, a 100-metre cordon has been put in place around the area, with some nearby homes being evacuated while checks are carried out by the Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
Police say they are working to keep disruption to a minimum and will provide further updates to residents as more information becomes available.
