Sussex Police are appealing for information after a ten-year-old boy was bitten by two dogs during a walk in Polegate.

The incident occurred at around 2.40pm on Monday, 26 May, in Abbot’s Wood. The boy, who was walking with his mum at the time, was attacked by the dogs and suffered bites to his legs. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The dogs have been described as small breeds, possibly Terriers—such as Jack Russell or Patterdale types. One of the dogs is believed to be named Molly.

Officers are also seeking to identify the dogs’ owner, who left the scene without providing details. She is described as a woman with blonde hair tied in a ponytail, wearing a light-coloured top and black leggings.

    Inspector Anthony Oakensen said:

“We understand that this was a distressing incident for the child and his mum. Fortunately, he is now recovering at home.

“We are exploring a number of lines of inquiry and are appealing for witnesses to come forward. We are keen to understand the full circumstances and would encourage the woman involved to assist with our enquiries.”
