Police investigating a suspected attempted rape in Brighton have arrested a 32-year-old man.
The incident came to light in the early hours of Sunday, 29 June, when a bus driver reported that a female passenger had alleged she had just been the victim of an attempted rape in an alleyway near North Street.
The bus was in Old Steine at around 12:10am when the man in question boarded and later left the area. Following the report, Sussex Police issued a CCTV appeal on 1 July, seeking to identify a man they wished to speak with in connection to the incident.
As a result of the appeal, a 32-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape. He has since been released on bail while further enquiries continue.
