    ABOUT THE ARTISTS

    Little Victor

Multiple award-winning Little Victor (a.k.a. "The Beale Street Blues Bopper" and also "DJ Mojo Man") is an internationally acclaimed American artist well-known on both sides of the pond for his rich, quirky, and inspired real-deal postmodern rockin' downhome blues and boogie. He has been called the King of Grit and the antithesis of meaningless virtuosity.

The Los Angeles Times called him "an untamed maverick whose raw, primitive sounds are the utter antithesis of the contemporary Blues model. The offbeat singer-guitarist eschews the genre’s prevalent trend for streamlined six-string virtuosity in favour of wild shouting, stabbing guitar and heavy, almost hypnotic, rhythmic repetition. He can effortlessly switch from shadowy, primitive low Blues to the polished, uptown Beale Street-style R&B, to wild, wicked boogies, and all of it is put across with expressive, soul-deep conviction."

He played, toured and recorded with the likes of Louisiana Red, Hubert Sumlin, RL Burnside, Robert 'Wolfman' Belfour and many more. He'll be making a special appearance at The Blues Weekend rocking the stage and turning the place into a Mississippi juke joint.

    Tobias Mudlow

Tobias Mudlow is the frontman, songwriter and guitarist from Brighton's longest-running best-kept secret. Mudlow have been making music and trouble in and around Brighton for over twenty years. As a full band they play dark, dangerous noir grooves, funky gumbo rock and swampy blues that is full of grit and funk. Solo, Tobias strips these songs back to their bones and bares their very souls.

    Shamblin Sexton

Shamblin Sexton has been DJing rocking blues, roots and country music for the last twenty years. As head of Whiskey Preachin, he runs a record label, hosts a radio show and writes for US magazine Honky Tonk Times. For this special evening he has dug deep into the Whiskey Preachin archives to bring us a belting set of blues blasters. He has just one plan, to save your soul, one record at a time!

    Blues Mammoth

Breathing new life into the sounds of early Chicago, New Orleans and British Blues, Andy Twyman and Tom Bailey present Blues Mammoth.

For over ten years Andy Twyman has toured the country as a one man band. He has performed on BBC Radio, Channel 4 and at Glastonbury Festival, and has been described as “The Master of The One Man Band” (Blues in Britain Magazine). Tom Bailey is one of the hardest working bass players on the festival circuit, and regularly tours Europe with a variety of bands. In 2017, they decided to embark on a band project and Blues Mammoth was formed.

    JD Harmo

Out of what is commonly dubbed a "pocket instrument"; singer J.D, delivers a wailing, "big-tone", amplified urban Blues harmonica sound. He takes his harmonica cue from 50's Chicago Blues stars such as Little Walter, Big Walter Horton, or in contrast might choose to lay down a lazy, soulful sound, in the spirit of Louisiana "swamp" Blues. A sincere and deep kind of Blues one may hear on an old "Chess" or "Excello" record.

J.D , also the front man of his own Blues quartet JD AND THE ELECTRO-TONES, does a set of rockin', swinging and lowdown "deep" Blues music, in tribute to the timeless music of some of the 50’s Blues “Allstars”: Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Jimmy Reed, Slim Harpo, Sonny Boy Williamson along with some of his own compositions.

JD will be accompanied on guitar by Little Victor, aka The Beale Street Blues Bopper.
