Police in Eastbourne have made two arrests in connection with a violent attack which left a man seriously injured. The incident occurred at about 6:20 pm on Sunday 26 October in Canute Close, when a 65-year-old local man was assaulted by a younger male.
The victim was taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition. Detectives investigating the case have arrested two local men — aged 18 and 27 — on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They remain in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Catherine O’Connor described the suspect as a white male wearing dark clothing, a face covering and white trainers, who fled the scene in the direction of Alfred Road, passing Brittany Court after the assault.
Officers are appealing for anyone with relevant information — including CCTV, doorbell, dash-cam or mobile phone footage — from the area at the time to come forward. The investigation is being carried out under Operation Ariel (serial 1061 of 26/10). You can contact Sussex Police or anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
